Planting Seeds of Change
The grass is never green on the other side…unless we make it!
In our continued effort to contribute to our planet’s ecosystem, here’s another project where small measures in packaging material chosen can make a big difference to the environment. The current plant seed packaging is made out of Aluminium foil and non-biodegradable plastic. Both these materials are extremely harmful to the environment as they cause fossil fuel consumption, aquatic toxicity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
A new sustainable plant packaging is made of three sustainable materials, seed paper, soy ink and biodegradable plastic. It can be completely sown in mud, after use and will grow into a healthy plant after following the steps mentioned in the back of the packaging.
It is a resealable pouch and comes detachable plant marker and is made available in Godrej Nature’s Basket India’s pioneering food destination from the 119-year young Godrej Group.
Seed paper is made with post-consumer materials embedded with seeds. This biodegradable paper doesn’t leave any waste behind and will grow into something that will have a positive impact on the environment.
The seeds themselves can still germinate after the papermaking process and they can sprout when the paper is planted in soil.
